GibbsCAM plays an integral role in helping this shop fulfill its customers’ emergency machining requirements

EMC Precision Machining (Elyria, Ohio) is a fourth‑generation, family‑owned shop that specializes in Swiss and CNC machining for OEMs across industries. Known for quick turnarounds and handling urgent, last‑minute production when other suppliers fail, EMC frequently runs from prototypes to tens of thousands of parts and needed a reliable way to respond faster to emergency orders and engineering changes without sacrificing quality.

To meet that need EMC standardized on GibbsCAM (with models prepared in SolidWorks) for its Swiss and horizontal machines, giving engineers precise geometry and much faster programming. The result: programming times dropped dramatically (one job took 3.5 hours vs. more than 8 manually), lead time to get work on the floor fell about 70% (from ~10 days to under 3), delivery performance exceeded 99% in 2009, and the shop absorbed large new volumes (240 new part numbers in 90 days) while maintaining high quality.
