A 3D Systems Case Study
Schneider Electric, a global energy-management company, needed to move beyond traditional, part-by-part dimensional checks to understand how components actually function together in assemblies. Measuring isolated features often failed to predict real-world fit and caused unnecessary rework and material waste, so the company sought a way to validate functional conditions and standardize inspection across its global teams.
Schneider implemented Geomagic Control X and Design X for 3D feature inspection and reverse engineering—using feature-based “virtual pin gauge” analysis and a pyramid of regional “super users” to train generalists, experts, and specialists. Within six months functional analysis was deployed company-wide, enabling acceptance of more parts without compromising quality, reducing time and material costs, improving supplier and tool validation, and accelerating time to market through a single shared 3D data set.
