From Prototype to Production with 3D Systems' on Demand Manufacturing

Redfish Instruments, creator of the iDVM—the world’s first iPhone-, iPad-, and iPod touch–enabled digital multimeter—needed a reliable partner to produce functional prototypes and scale to production. They sought a vendor who could deliver quick, testable prototypes to validate fit, form and function, then support design iteration and low-volume manufacturing for final parts.

Redfish used 3D Systems’ On Demand Manufacturing (Quickparts) to move from SLA ABS-like prototypes to cast urethane pre-production pieces and finally low-volume injection-molded production parts in UL94V-0 ABS from aluminum molds. With Quickparts’ online quoting, DfM analysis and hands-on support, Redfish streamlined development, accelerated time-to-market, and completed the product’s transition from concept to production with a single trusted supplier.
