DLS Plastics Streamlines Injection Mold Design and Production with Cimatron CAD/CAM Software

DLS Plastics, a Grantham, UK manufacturer of off-the-shelf and custom components for the medical, leisure and consumer-products sectors, faced rising pressure to produce increasingly complex molds with greater accuracy, shorter lead times and lower costs. After struggling with CAD packages that lacked advanced modeling, machining support and unified file management, the company sought an easy-to-learn, integrated CAD/CAM solution to streamline tool design and production.

DLS implemented Cimatron for modeling, drafting, mold design, NC, electrode extraction and rendering, using its integrated workflow and templates to automate repetitive tasks and download NC directly to CNC mills. The result: dramatically shorter design cycles, a fourfold increase in tool output (from about one tool per month to four), higher-quality, more accurate parts, improved flexibility to handle shifting workloads, and first-run success on complex molds.
