Direct Metal 3D Printing Brings Growth Benefits to MicroDent Dental Lab

MicroDent, founded by Michal Hermanek, is the largest dental lab and CAD/CAM services supplier in Czechia and Slovakia. Facing the limits of traditional CNC milling—which was slow, wasteful and struggled to produce the ultra‑accurate, deformation‑resistant metal bridges required for comfortable patient fits—the lab needed a faster, more precise manufacturing approach to scale its business.

MicroDent adopted 3D Systems’ ProX 100 Direct Metal Sintering printers, using laser sintering of metal powders to produce dense, highly accurate dental bridges (up to 115 elements per build) that withstand post‑processing and firing. The switch delivered much faster turnaround, less material waste and higher part quality, helping the company grow rapidly to about €20M in revenue and capture roughly 90% of the regional dental laser‑sintering market.
