Custom Motorcycle Manufacturer Changes production Processes and Customer Communication with Cimatron CAD/CAM Software

Detroit Brothers Custom Cycles, founded by brothers Dave and James Kaye in Ferndale, MI, is a small-scale builder of one-of-a-kind motorcycles that blends engineering, industrial design and hands-on fabrication. Their challenge was to replace manual drawings with a single CAD solution that was easy to learn in a small-shop environment yet powerful enough to design entire bikes, individual parts and clear visual presentations for customers who can’t see the finished product until delivery.

They adopted CimatronE for the full design-to-production workflow, using it to model complete assemblies and individual components. The intuitive 3D environment lets customers approve accurate visualizations up front, while machinists use the same files for milling—eliminating guesswork, speeding production, improving customer communication and preserving the shop’s bespoke, efficient process.
