A 3D Systems Case Study
3D Systems used its in-house project of creating custom foosball players to test and demonstrate new, affordable 3D tools. For more than three years the Cary, NC software team has made personalized foosball pieces; the latest challenge was to validate the new-generation Sense 3D scanner and the end-to-end workflow for a product release.
The team scanned a product manager with the Sense on a Surface Pro, refined the model and merged it with the foosball part in Geomagic Sculpt, then prepared and printed the piece on a CubePro 3D printer. The result was a finished, playable custom foosball figure in about three hours, proving the scanner, software and printer work together for quick, high-quality custom goods.
