C. Behrens Formen & Design GmbH, a German specialist in molds and aluminum lasts for the shoe industry, was commissioned by Schomburg & Graf to develop a safety sole for the ladies’ shoe “VENEZIA.” The brief required a cemented sole that could be produced both with and without a steel inlay, and the project demanded precise digital modeling and rapid iteration from initial hand sketches to final data.

Behrens used a combination of Geomagic FreeForm Plus and Rhino to model the sole, leveraging FreeForm’s strong modeling capabilities to convert STL data to NURBS surfaces and refine the design. The result was a completed safety sole design for VENEZIA meeting the customer’s specifications, delivered efficiently through the integrated digital workflow.
