Black & Decker, a global leader in power tools and home-improvement products, faced a growing need for fast, cost-effective early concept models to evaluate product aesthetics and ergonomics. As designers moved to 3D CAD, demand for physical models outpaced their prototype center; outsourcing and CNC work were too slow and expensive, and designers needed a way to produce multiple iterations quickly in-house.

They installed the 3D Systems Projet CJP full-color 3D printer — a fast, affordable, easy-to-use system that designers rapidly embraced.
