Artforge Studio Expands Capabilities with 3D Printed Jewelry Patterns

Artforge Studio, a UK workshop led by goldsmith Simon Walker with 30+ years’ experience, wanted a faster, cost-effective way to produce creative, unusual and repeatable jewelry designs—especially to restore heirlooms, prototype new ideas and give customers tangible iterations to try on. The challenge was to expand design freedom without adding prohibitive time or material costs while keeping pieces suitable for traditional casting and bench finishing.

Artforge adopted 3D Systems’ FabPro 1000 printer with 3D Sprint software and JewelCast GRN (and Tough BLK) materials, creating a digital workflow that delivers high-accuracy, repeatable investment-casting patterns at higher throughput. The result: quicker, lower-cost production of intricate designs, resilient printed patterns that can be filed or drilled, easier file prep and support generation, the ability to print larger pieces in one run, and a streamlined integration of 3D-printed patterns into the studio’s normal casting and finishing processes.
