9th Grade AGORA Program Student Rises to a Teacher’s Challenge Using Geomagic Sculpt

3D Systems supplied its Geomagic Sculpt software to students in the AGORA outreach program at Cumberland International Early College High School. Mentor Jeff Epps challenged 15-year-old Emily Watson—an artistic, high-achieving student—to design a Velociraptor in two weeks using unfamiliar design tools, testing both her skills and the software’s suitability for classroom use.

Working with a standard school mouse and Geomagic Sculpt’s voxel “clay” and subD surface tools, Emily completed a highly detailed, 3D-printable Velociraptor in 10 days by using the software’s help features and trial-and-error. The project showcased the software’s intuitive workflow and educational value, produced a polished model, and positioned Emily to mentor peers and pursue further STEM challenges.
