A 3D Systems Case Study
Shachihata, Inc., a Japanese stamp and stationery maker since 1925 known for innovations like the Mannen Stamp Pad and XStamper, needed faster, more reliable prototyping to support overseas expansion and more diversified products. Outsourced and existing in‑house 3D printing workflows were slowing development—support removal was time‑consuming and sometimes damaged delicate parts—so the company sought a solution to shorten lead times and improve product quality.
Shachihata adopted the ProJet® 3500 HD (now ProJet® 3500 HDMax) using Multi‑Jet Modeling with durable VisiJet® materials and removable wax supports that are melted out in an oven. The printer’s precision (0.025–0.05 mm per inch) and compact build volume (11.75 x 7.3 x 8 in) let Shachihata bring prototyping in‑house, cut planning‑to‑sales time in half, eliminate week‑long inspection delays, boost design creativity, and produce higher‑quality, more experimental products.
