A 3D Systems Case Study
Hankook Tire, founded in 1941 and now the world’s seventh-largest tire maker selling in 185 countries, needed faster, more accurate concept prototyping while keeping in-progress designs confidential. The design team faced costly external mockups, slow decision-making between design and engineering, and the challenge of quickly testing and communicating new tire patterns.
To solve this, Hankook brought a 3D Systems ProJet 660 in-house to produce full-color, CAD-accurate models (built overnight in about 7–8 hours). The change cut meeting times by roughly 70%, reduced outsourcing costs and mismatches from handcrafted models, sped iteration, and improved IP security by keeping prototype data internal.
