3D Prototypes Makes the World Turn Faster for Fujikon

Fujikon, a Hong Kong–based, award-winning headphone and speaker manufacturer, faced intense competition and rising demand in the mobile headset market and needed faster time-to-market, better prototyping and more robust R&D workflows. In 2011 its 200-strong R&D team evaluated 3D printing to meet requirements for a sizeable build platform, high precision, smooth surface finish and durable materials for assembly and fit testing.

Fujikon selected 3D Systems’ ProJet 7000 SLA printer with VisiJet SL Flex, installed in 2013, enabling die-less manufacturing, overnight printing and next-day validation, acoustic testing and packaging review. The new workflow delivered major gains — 62% faster 3D parts production, an estimated 5% reduction in total development time in year one and about 11% material savings — helping Fujikon accelerate product development and stay competitive.
