3D Printed Models Help Sell New World-Class Stadium in Stockholm

WE DO, a Stockholm design studio, was hired to create an exquisitely detailed physical model of the new 30,000‑seat Stockholmsarenan to help sell seats, book events and generate public excitement before construction finished. The model needed to be highly detailed and delivered on a tight schedule—far faster than traditional handcrafted architectural models would allow.

WE DO turned to 3D Systems’ Color Jet Printing (Projet) to produce a 1.2 × 1.2 m cross‑section model that captured every architectural detail, including 7,400 individually printed seats. The Projet delivered multicolor capability, speed (5–10× faster), automation and material recycling at a fraction of the cost, producing a striking model that “blew away” architects and patrons, helped drive sales and publicity, and met deadline and budget constraints that handcrafting could not.
