A 3Dflow Case Study
The University of Bergamo, a research institution, faced the challenge of accurately digitizing a historic sculpture for documentation and conservation. They sought to compare the results of various professional and low-cost digitalization tools and photogrammetry software solutions to determine best practices, partnering with vendor 3Dflow for the 3D reconstruction processing.
3Dflow's software, 3DF Zephyr, was used to process datasets from different cameras. The solution successfully generated multiple 3D models, with the output from 3DF Zephyr using HDR images from a professional camera providing the highest quality and accuracy when compared to a laser scan reference model. While video-based reconstruction was less accurate, it offered a faster data collection method. This work by 3Dflow helped demonstrate the effective application of both professional and low-cost photogrammetry for cultural heritage preservation.
