A 3Dflow Case Study
A graduating student from Politecnico di Milano was tasked with the redevelopment of a disused building, the Casere, into the new Museum of Modern Art in Brescia. The initial challenge was to accurately survey the existing structure to create a foundation for the new architectural design, which aimed to be both innovative and sustainable. The student utilized a drone for aerial photogrammetry and processed the captured images using 3Dflow's software, 3DF Zephyr Aerial.
By processing over 1,400 aerial photos in 3DF Zephyr Aerial, 3Dflow's solution generated a highly detailed 3D model of the building, including a dense point cloud of over 130 million points and a high-definition textured mesh. These outputs were used to create essential orthophotos and CAD layouts, which documented the building's materials and state of degradation. This accurate digital reconstruction directly informed the final architectural project, allowing for a successful design that inserted a new, modern museum space within the historic shell of the existing building.
