A 3Dflow Case Study
The Institute for Research and Learning in Archaeology and Bioarcheology (IRLAB) faced the challenge of meticulously documenting and preserving fragile 19th-century human remains from a cholera cemetery for detailed anthropological study and public accessibility, avoiding the errors and oversights inherent in traditional analog methods.
Using 3Dflow's photogrammetry software, 3D Zephyr, IRLAB created precise, measurable 3D models from georeferenced photographs. This 3Dflow solution resulted in accurate virtual replicas of the burials, enabling safe, detailed analysis of fragile elements and difficult-to-interpret areas. This allowed for the creation of a public "virtual cemetery" and preserved the original spatial context of each individual long after the physical remains were removed.
