DL Droni, an Italian company specializing in aerial surveys, utilized 3Dflow's software to process a test dataset captured with a DJI Zenmuse L1 sensor, which integrates LiDAR and RGB camera technology. Their challenge was to effectively merge these two different types of data—photogrammetric images and a laser scan—into a single, accurate 3D model.

The solution from 3Dflow involved using 3DF Zephyr to first create a photogrammetric model and then seamlessly import and merge it with the LiDAR point cloud through a direct merge function. By structuring the LiDAR data with the workspace cameras, 3Dflow's software enabled the scan to be colorized and treated like a standard photogrammetric cloud. The final output was a highly detailed textured mesh with over 6.5 million points, a result that fully met DL Droni's expectations for geometric accuracy despite the low number of images used.
