A 3D Spark Case Study
The customer, Niedersachsen ADDITIV, a collaborative initiative in Lower Saxony, was focused on helping local manufacturers, particularly SMEs, overcome challenges such as high costs, production inefficiencies, and long lead times. These businesses also struggled with the complexity of selecting optimal production methods and lacked the resources to implement new technologies like 3D printing. To address this, Niedersachsen ADDITIV cooperated with vendor 3D Spark to leverage their B2B Manufacturing & Procurement software platform.
3D Spark provided its software platform to support Niedersachsen ADDITIV's "3D Printing Practice Check" initiative, offering detailed analysis of production options, cost, lead-time, and sustainability for each part. In a project with AK Regeltechnik, the solution enabled a redesign of a hydraulic valve for 3D printing. The results were a manufacturing time reduction of 40 hours, a cost reduction of more than 50%, and a two-thirds reduction in the part's weight, demonstrating significant efficiency and economic gains.
