The Remodelling of King’s Cross Railway Station

Specialist Project Integration (SPI) was faced with the immense challenge of remodelling London's King's Cross railway station, a £250 million project that needed to be completed while the station remained open. With hundreds of team members and thousands of CAD files, traditional coordination methods were insufficient. SPI required a web-accessible design coordination tool to minimize disruption and improve collaboration, leading them to the vendor 3D Repo and its digital BIM platform.

The solution implemented by 3D Repo provided SPI with tools like Instant Clash for identifying design conflicts and 3D Diff for tracking model changes, all accessible via a web browser without specialized training. This served as a central hub for coordination and communication, helping to democratize data for stakeholders with a reality model. Using 3D Repo's platform contributed to a predicted savings of 10,000 hours of on-site work and significantly minimized decision-making timescales with various authorities.
