Data validation saves 1,500 hours for Mid Group

Mid Group, a UK offsite construction and consultancy business, faced a significant challenge in manually validating BIM model data for its projects. The process was time-consuming, taking three to four hours per model, and it was difficult to ensure data quality and meet project timeframes. To address this, Mid Group partnered with vendor 3D Repo to create an automated model and data validation process.

3D Repo implemented a solution using its 'Smart Groups' feature, creating a custom set of automated validation rules. This was integrated with Power BI to generate automatic compliance reports. The solution slashed the time spent checking each model from hours to approximately 30 minutes, saving an estimated 1,500 man-hours per year. 3D Repo's system also improved data quality dramatically, reducing errors from 350 to zero on a project within three weeks, leading to greater efficiency and accuracy across the entire project team.
