Service Bureau Business Doubles with Large Format 3D Print Capability

Titanic Design is a San Francisco Bay Area 3D printing service bureau specializing in bridge manufacturing and very large-scale parts. Owner Tom Price needed an affordable way to produce full‑size models to educate customers, manage expectations, and expand into new markets without the high capital and operating costs of closed, proprietary systems.

They adopted a 3D Platform WorkSeries large‑format printer—about one‑tenth the capital cost of closed systems with materials and operating costs up to ten times lower—enabling 1:1 showpieces (like a 1.55 m turbofan fan) and new business opportunities. The result: dramatic growth and a doubling of service volume, plans for a second machine, faster, cheaper prototyping, and the ability to compete with much more expensive equipment.
