Service Canada’s Passport Program mailroom, which coordinates daily shipments of application forms, rush requests and other materials to Passport Canada offices nationwide, faced costly and time‑consuming shipping processes. Multiple couriers with varying rates, government rules requiring calls to all National Master Standing Offer (NMSO) vendors for quotes, and manual report generation made choosing the lowest‑cost option and reconciling invoices inefficient.
The team implemented the Government of Canada Transportation Management System powered by 2Ship, a web‑based tool to search and compare NMSO rates, book, track and report on shipments from a single interface. The TMS delivered immediate time and cost savings by streamlining single and bulk shipments, enabling held quotes, providing real‑time delay notifications, improving customer communications, and producing electronic reports to reconcile and challenge courier invoices and prevent unnecessary return fees on international shipments.
