A Look At How KAZOO Solved IP Telecom’s Scaling Challenges

IP Telecom, a Dublin-based VoIP provider with an award-winning Hosted PBX platform, needed to solve scaling problems as its business grew. Their in-house Asterisk-based hosted PBX could handle voice call scaling with Kamailio load balancing, but presence, conference bridges, and other multi-box, multi-data-center features were much harder to scale.

To address this, IP Telecom chose 2600Hz’s KAZOO open core platform, which offered a RESTful API-driven architecture built for telecom scale. With 2600Hz, IP Telecom grew from 100 customers in a single data center to thousands across multiple data centers, gaining an elastic cloud platform and new API-enabled capabilities such as delivering call statistics over WebSockets.
