A 22 Miles Case Study
Westfield Corporation, a vertically integrated shopping center owner and manager with about 2,000 employees, interests in 40 U.S. and U.K. centers and $29.3bn in assets, needed a way to simplify navigation and improve the traveler experience at the busy John F. Kennedy Airport—particularly at American Airlines Terminal 8, which processes roughly 1,600 people per hour. After deciding digital signage was the best approach, Westfield selected 22Miles to deliver a modern wayfinding solution.
Working with OpenEye Global and 22Miles, Westfield deployed three custom double-sided 43" touch-screen kiosks that are inviting, multilingual and ADA compliant. The kiosks include search for flights, shops, dining, baggage, restrooms and transport, a “Send to Mobile” turn-by-turn feature and a boarding-pass barcode scanner that generates digital routes; since launch they have recorded over one million interactions and measurably improved wayfinding and traveler efficiency.
