Mineta San Jose International Airport Install United States First Airport Wayfinding Digital Signage Robots Powered by 22Miles

Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC), the airport for Silicon Valley, wanted to reflect the region’s tech culture by improving traveler experience and standing out as an innovative, iconic gateway for tech-savvy passengers.

Partnering with 22Miles, SJC launched three interactive wayfinding robots—Norma, Amelia and Piper—stationed at key gates on custom Geo Mats. The multilingual robots combine touchscreens, selfie/photo sharing and a “dance” mode with 3D pinch-and-zoom terminal maps, turn-by-turn directions, and a “Map It Now” option (including mobile send), improving navigation, passenger engagement and the airport’s tech-forward identity.
