Gold Coast University Hospital in Queensland, Australia Uses 22Miles to Dramatically Improve Patient Experiences Using Interactive Wayfinding Kiosks

Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) in Queensland, Australia — a sprawling 1.83 million sq. ft. campus with 8,000 rooms, 250 departments and 59 floors across eight buildings — needed a comprehensive, real-time, multi-lingual wayfinding system during a $50M renovation and expansion. Frequent room and department moves, private research floors, changing visiting hours and weekend closures made accurate, easy-to-manage directional signage critical for staff, patients and visitors.

22Miles’ digital signage and touch-screen wayfinding kiosks, driven by Publisher Pro and its map and content editors, provided real-time floor-plan updates, pathway scheduling, mobile routing and staff-login control for private floors, plus content in five languages and Outlook calendar integration. The system launched kiosk testing two months ahead of opening, required minimal training, reduced visitor stress and confusion, stayed under budget and added a mobile-web wayfinding feature for smartphone users.
