Land Information New Zealand worked with 1Spatial to address a high-priority initiative in the New Zealand Topographic Information Strategy: replacing its existing NZMG-based topographic map series with a new NZ Transverse Mercator-based series, NZTopo50. The challenge was to modernize and speed up map production while improving the currency of the 1:50k map series.

1Spatial helped LINZ develop an automated topographic map production flowline, bringing previously outsourced work back in-house. This streamlined operations and delivered a 52% saving in production costs per map sheet, while enabling LINZ to produce a more up-to-date 1:50k map series than ever before.
