Keeping Pace with Infrastructure Churn

Yarra Valley Water, the largest of three retail water organisations owned by the Victorian Government, needed a better way to manage constant changes to its water, sewerage and recycled water network data. To keep its GIS accurate for engineering and commercial decisions, it turned to 1Spatial and its Development Industry Translator (DIT) approach to streamline how updates from internal users and contractors were handled.

1Spatial developed an automated DIT solution using FME Server to validate CAD drawings and related attribute files, check them against Yarra Valley Water’s design rules, and transfer approved changes into Hexagon G/Technology. The result was a fast, structured, and largely hands-off workflow with automated error checking, quicker turnaround of updates, more consistent and reliable data, and improved workforce productivity by reducing manual intervention.
