City of Melbourne worked with 1Spatial to address growing demand for complex spatial overlays and joins, long-running geoprocessing jobs on local machines, repeated manual ETL work, tied-up FME Desktop licenses, and the need for a centralised, accurate data repository to support its web-based GIS services. The council had already been using FME Desktop and turned to FME Server to improve automation and data delivery.

1Spatial provided onsite consultancy to install and customise FME Server, create reusable workspaces, train staff, document best practices, integrate with third-party software, and set up scheduling and support. The result was much faster processing, automation of labour-intensive tasks, reduced strain on local PCs, improved self-service and integration with existing web solutions, and the ability to run jobs outside working hours, helping City of Melbourne save time and costs.
