Automated data integration contributes to $5 billion saving for US Census

The U.S. Census Bureau needed a faster, more accurate way to manage and integrate massive amounts of geographic data for the census, including address records, road networks, and government boundaries from 3,200 partners. 1Spatial helped the bureau streamline these manual, time-consuming processes using 1Integrate, a rules-based data management solution.

1Spatial implemented an automated data conflation and validation process that compared partner submissions against the bureau’s MAF/TIGER database, generated change proposals, and updated records once approved. This improved data accuracy and currency, reduced manual field canvassing to 25% of the previous level, and contributed to a projected cost avoidance of more than $5 billion for the 2020 census.
