How 1Password’s SSO integration helped Frontiers protect its global workforce

Frontiers, the world’s sixth-largest and third-most-cited research publisher, faced growing security and operational risk from reused passwords, locally stored credentials, and time-consuming onboarding. Cybersecurity Lead Diego de Haller was brought in to build a stronger program and replace scattered password practices with a scalable, global solution.

Frontiers implemented 1Password’s Unlock with SSO using Microsoft Azure and used the 1Password SCIM Bridge for automated provisioning. Adoption climbed quickly—more than half of employees started using the tool in the first week and over 1,400 have been onboarded—resulting in simplified security administration, faster onboarding, fewer password resets, and wider use of strong, unique passwords at work (and home).
