Preview of the World’s Largest Airline Company Case Study

World’s largest airline company migrates 580 sites using just 12 servers thanks to Nomad

1E, a provider of software-lifecycle automation used by large enterprises worldwide, helped a European airline—the world’s largest by revenue and passenger-kilometres—tackle a fast, remote migration to Windows 7 across 580 global sites. The airline’s existing systems-management tool (Numara) lacked remote deployment capabilities and was nearing end-of-support, so it needed a scalable solution that would complete the migration without disrupting business traffic.

The airline deployed Microsoft SCCM 2012 together with 1E Nomad, designing a network that used just 12 distribution-point servers. Nomad’s Reverse QoS bandwidth management enabled reliable remote site migrations, delivering a fully automated, zero-touch migration. Results included avoiding upgrades to 200 servers and 560 distribution points, saving more than $3.7 million, and eliminating the need to pay Microsoft’s Customer Service Agreement for Windows XP.
