A 1E Case Study
Saint-Gobain, a global construction-materials group with about 100,000 desktops spread across 6,000 locations, faced a major challenge delivering software patches and upgrades efficiently without deploying a server in every branch. The standard Microsoft Systems Management architecture would have required thousands of distribution servers and significant ongoing investment.
The IT team implemented Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager alongside 1E’s Nomad WAN-optimization and peer-distribution solution, which uses spare bandwidth and intelligent throttling to deliver packages reliably with minimal network impact. The result: distribution became fast and dependable, the required branch server count fell from 6,000 to 200 (a 97% reduction), and Saint-Gobain realized substantial savings in server, energy, support and maintenance costs.
