A 1E Case Study
Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health Foundation Trust, which supports nearly 1,600 clinical staff and runs about 1,500 PCs and 250 laptops, needed to consolidate multiple desktop management tools, make patching less intrusive and cut high energy costs caused by overnight upgrades and machines left on. The ICT team sought a single, more efficient system that would support greener IT objectives while maintaining reliable maintenance and security.
They deployed 1E’s NightWatchman PC Power Management to schedule wake-up, install and shutdown processes, enabling guaranteed patching and automated power savings without disrupting users. The rollout was straightforward with no user resistance and delivered faster maintenance, reduced energy consumption (estimated minimum savings of £20,000 per year, including £6.5k from one hospital), a stronger green IT stance and scope to extend management to remote and mobile workers.
