Cherokee School District and WSS Why Microsoft plus 1E is the right way to get to Windows 10

Cherokee County School District (CCSD), located north of Atlanta, supports 42 schools, 6,000 staff and 42,000 students and manages roughly 40,000 Windows PCs. Preparing for a district-wide move to Windows 10 and Windows-as-a-service, the IT team faced risks from unreliable downloads, limited network uptime during testing windows, and a manual upgrade process that took 36 hours for just 32 machines — clearly not scalable without causing major disruption.

CCSD chose 1E’s Windows Servicing Suite (including Nomad) for resilient peer-to-peer content distribution, pre-caching and automated UEFI conversion to ensure security and minimal network impact. In lab testing the upgrade time dropped from 36 hours to about two hours, demonstrating a fast, scalable and reliable path to Windows 10 for the district’s 40,000 endpoints.
