Rocklea to Darra BIM Management with 12d Synergy

The Department of Transport and Main Roads selected the Ipswich Motorway Upgrade Project (Rocklea to Darra – Stage 1) as its pilot BIM project, creating a demanding challenge for the BG&E and Cardno design joint venture. The team had to manage a tightly constrained, high-traffic motorway upgrade with strict government quality requirements, complex document control, and the need to support a flexible, distributed workforce while delivering BIM on a deadline.

12d Synergy provided the common data environment and BIM management platform, alongside 12d Model, to control files, workflows, revisions, and naming standards, while enabling secure remote access and worksharing. The solution helped the team enforce QA, eliminate paper-based reviews, speed approvals, and collaborate effectively across sites, with over 80 users at peak and the BIM coordinator working 750 km away in Newcastle. 12d Synergy also supported major productivity gains and substantial savings, with Stuart Cook describing it as a complete project management tool.
