NorthConnex, the 9-kilometer twin motorway tunnel project, needed a better way to manage rapidly growing survey and as-built data, including millions of attributes tied to tunnel vertices. The team also faced challenges producing plots quickly, handling large models, and securely storing and sharing data across the project. They used 12d Synergy as a common data environment alongside 12d Model management tools.

12d Synergy implemented automated workflows for survey plotting, including customized macros, standard plot frames, automatic naming, and structured filing for QA. It also moved heavy attributes to secure server files linked from the model, dramatically reducing project size and download times. One example dropped from 8.2 GB to 1.3 GB, cutting download time from 13 minutes to 2 minutes, while 12d Synergy improved efficiency, reporting, and collaboration across the NorthConnex team.
