Parsons Brinckerhoff Pty Ltd faced the immense challenge of upgrading the Mains and Kessels Roads intersection, a highly constrained corridor used by 90,000 vehicles daily. The primary difficulty was integrating a complex array of new underground services and structural foundations with existing live infrastructure while maintaining access to adjoining properties, all within a tight space. To tackle these 3D coordination issues, they turned to vendor 12d Solutions.

12d Solutions provided a sophisticated 3D modeling solution using their software. The team innovatively used Super Alignments and a custom "Spatial Information" toolbar with macros to model all new and existing services, as well as over 400 structural piles. This process allowed designers to identify and resolve clashes early in the design phase. The result was a highly adaptable design model. Furthermore, by exporting the models to IFC format and 3D PDF, 12d Solutions enabled seamless collaboration with other software and allowed the team to easily share the complex 3D designs with a wider audience for review.
