12d Solutions worked with Mott MacDonald on the upgrade of Canberra Airport. The client's challenge was to design a new, larger terminal precinct over an existing one with minimal disruption, requiring detailed 3D design of the internal road network, underground utilities, a new apron, and the management of critical Obstacle Limitation Surfaces for aviation safety.

The solution from 12d Solutions involved using their 12d Model software for a multi-user, multi-stage design approach. This allowed for the modelling of existing utilities, stormwater flows, and complex OLS boundaries to predict and mitigate potential construction problems. The result was a highly detailed design that provided the client with the information needed to create detailed construction plans and safely avoid dangerous interference with the airport's existing operations.
