Mortons Urban Solutions was commissioned to design and manage the 890-lot Ormeau Ridge residential subdivision, which was located next to a floodplain and within a green belt. These conditions, combined with the need for compensatory earthworks and elevated bio-retention basins, presented major technical challenges for the stormwater conveyance system. To overcome this, they utilized 12d Solutions' Dynamic Drainage Analysis (DDA) software.

The solution from 12d Solutions involved a highly interrelated system of bio-filtration basins, piped drainage, and 16 bi-directional pits. This design allowed low flows to be treated while larger flows were safely discharged, minimizing pipe and pit sizes across the entire development. The result was a highly functional and cost-efficient stormwater system that gained project approval. The collaboration also led to enhanced capabilities in the DDA software, which Mortons Urban Solutions continues to use on other major projects.
