The solution from 12d Solutions involved a simple yet innovative process of exporting design data from 12d Model into a .kml format for viewing in Google Earth on smartphones. This allowed site personnel to use their phones' location capabilities to see design data overlaid on the ground in near real-time, with an accuracy of within 2.0 meters. The result was a vastly more efficient process that eliminated unnecessary field visits, allowed for instantaneous updates when designs changed, and provided engineers with an incredibly beneficial tool for assessing design viability on-site.
