Lendlease (then operating as Abigroup) faced a challenge during construction where surfaces frequently did not meet final design tolerances or minimum layer thicknesses, leading to potential penalties and added rectification costs. Their existing semi-automated spreadsheet and external macro solutions were inefficient and required extensive manual steps and specialized knowledge. To improve and standardize the process, they turned to 12d Solutions and the 12d Model software already in use by their survey department.

12d Solutions developed a custom program using 12d Model and the Embarcadero Delphi programming language to fully automate the regrading process. This solution combined survey data, design data, and user-selected criteria to iteratively produce new design strings that met all specifications, while also maintaining full data traceability. The implementation by 12d Solutions greatly reduced the time taken to regrade surfaces, providing Lendlease with significant cost and time savings while also increasing the quality of the finished product for their clients.
