Jacobs (then Sinclair Knight Merz), a multi-disciplinary engineering firm, required a software package to help them quickly develop and investigate design options for a new taxiway system at Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International Airport. Their challenge was to ensure efficient water drainage while tying into existing pavements and meeting strict Federal Aviation criteria, all under strict deadlines. They turned to 12d Solutions and their product, 12d Model (then called 4D Model).

12d Solutions provided 12d Model, which was used for grading, 3D visualization, stormwater drainage design, and earthworks calculations. The software allowed the Jacobs team to rapidly develop and assess design options, ensuring the project's success. As a direct result, 12d Model was adopted by multiple Jacobs offices across Australia, with the Sydney office alone expanding to seven users.
