The customer, GHD Pty Ltd, faced significant challenges while designing the Combined Services Route (CSR) for Railcorp. The project involved modelling over 10km of rail tracks and hundreds of cable conduits and pits, which frequently clashed with other utilities and changed location almost daily. Manually updating these changes in the design software was a time-consuming and error-prone process for GHD, requiring an automated solution from their vendor, 12d Solutions.

12d Solutions implemented an innovative solution using their 12d Model software, specifically its Road and Rail design dimensions. They utilized automation through chains, computators, and modifiers to auto-update chainages and template configurations, drastically reducing manual effort. This approach enabled GHD to complete the project on time, satisfying client requirements by providing accurate long sections, cross sections, pit schedules, and clear 3D visualizations of the entire underground network.
