Case Study: Arup achieves efficient light rail modelling with 12d Solutions

Arup, working on the Gold Coast Rapid Transit project for client McConnell Dowell, faced the challenge of designing a complex light rail system within a shared road corridor. This required very close coordination between rail and road alignments and involved technically challenging tasks like applying cant to the trackslab and checking light rail-specific sight distances. They partnered with 12d Solutions to identify unique modeling requirements using 12d Model software.

The solution from 12d Solutions was the development of a number of new custom macros. These macros were designed to help the Arup team efficiently and accurately model the integrated light rail design. As a result, 12d Solutions provided the tools that enabled the team to complete the project efficiently and accurately.
