12d Model Provides Land and Sea Data for Fisherman Islands - Port of Brisbane Corporation

The Port of Brisbane Corporation faced the challenge of expanding its port facilities at Fisherman Islands, which required the rapid reclamation of over 70 hectares of land. This involved dredging and moving 2.6 million cubic metres of sand from access channels within a tight 10-week schedule, necessitating highly accurate volume calculations for contractor payments. 12d Solutions provided its 4D Model software (later renamed 12d Model) to address this engineering task.

Using 12d Solutions' software, the Corporation calculated precise pre- and post-dredge volumes, which were used to process a $16 million payment to the dredging contractors. The solution also provided 3D visualizations of the river bed and was used for designing road networks. The Port of Brisbane Corporation reported that the biggest benefits from 12d Solutions were the software's speed, accuracy, ease of use, and the excellent local support, which allowed their team to complete work quickly.
