The customer, the Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Team (SCIRT), was formed to address the unprecedented damage to the city's infrastructure following a series of major earthquakes, including a devastating magnitude 6.3 quake. The challenge was to rebuild over 200km of roads, 800km of pipes, and numerous other assets, a massive and complex $2.5 billion project that required a powerful civil engineering software solution. SCIRT chose 12d Solutions and its 12d Model software to meet this immense challenge.

The solution implemented by 12d Solutions involved using 12d Model as the central civil engineering database for all surveying, drainage, sewer, and road design work. 12d Solutions supported the project by conducting extensive "train the trainer" courses to ensure SCIRT's design teams were fully equipped. The result was a coordinated and resilient rebuild effort that helped restore confidence in the city, carried out by a major alliance of organizations over a five-year period.
