The Chicago Department of Family Support Services (DFSS) was mandated by new state legislation to test water for lead at daycares but lacked the experience and systems to do so. Their challenge was to create a brand new testing and remediation program under the threat of license revocation to protect the children in their care. To meet this challenge, DFSS partnered with 120Water for its software, testing kits, and expertise.

120Water provided the software for sample collection and recording, while its services team created user-friendly training programs and communications for daycare staff. The vendor also acted as a bridge to state regulators, helping interpret the new rules. This solution enabled the successful testing of 3,775 fixtures across 232 sites. 120Water's program ensured safety through interim remediation, such as shipping 188 filters, and established a process for ongoing testing and compliance until all fixtures are deemed safe.
